Marko Wunderlich

Hi, I’m Marko Wunderlich, a freelance senior full stack engineer and software expert from Germany. I’ve been building and rescuing software since 2000, from OS/400 green screens to cloud-native micro services, and these days increasingly with AI in the loop.

Who I am

My day-to-day work spans full stack development and technical leadership, often with consulting mixed in. I also work as a forward deployed engineer, taking solutions out of the demo world and getting them running in the real one. That means sitting close to the people who use the software, while wiring things into messy legacy systems with real data and actual constraints.

For more than two decades I’ve worked across telecommunications, logistics, medical technology, financial technology, insurance, IT services, mobility, security and the power industry, for global players and small product companies alike. Currently I’m spending a good share of my time putting local AI to work in real development workflows (Unsloth, Qwen and OpenCode on Arch Linux). It turned out to be a natural fit for how I’ve always worked: understand the problem, then build and deliver a system with real value for the customer.

What you’ll find on this site

  • Profile lists my background plus a rather complete skills matrix.
  • Projects covers my project history since 2000, most recent engagements first.
  • Blog is where I write about software development, AI and forward deployed engineering. The section is freshly brewed, so give it a little time to fill up.

Why “Caffeinated Dev”?

Good software is rarely written while sober of focus. And the best debug sessions start with a full cup or gourd and end with a bunch of commits you’re proud of. Consider this site the logbook of an engineer who genuinely enjoys the craft.

If you have a project that needs someone who can go from architecture sketch to running production code, or you just want to talk about development, AI or forward deployed engineering, drop me a line.
